Active retirees chose to downsize from their turn-of-the-century farmhouse in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Their dream? Create a unique retirement home from their historic dairy barn ruins and silo.

Creating a Custom-Built Home from a Dairy Barn

Using Micon’s extensive expertise with historic building practices, the project began with a careful restoration of the barn ruins.

We then incorporated the newly restored barn home into the existing silo. This combination of old and new was re-built into a luxury retirement home outfitted for aging in place – complete with an elevator and roll-in showers. We transformed the former silo into a custom wine cellar.

Designed for the Way They Live

The couple now lives in a home that meets their needs and their future needs as they age. Their new home also fits their current lifestyle – giving them the freedom to travel and spend time with their grandchildren.
