French Creek

Living and working in the city, this professional couple needed a country retreat to decompress from the pressures of their careers. They owned a dated home in Southeastern Pennsylvania which they wanted to tear down and replace with a custom home. Keeping the same location of the old building to maintain their views was vital – and since they planned to retire here, aging in place design elements were essential.

From Old to New: A Custom-Built Home

Micon’s first step was to demolish the old, pre-existing structure. With the township’s stringent home placement and wildlife protection requirements, combined with project timing and inclement weather, the project presented many challenges.

The new two-story home was built 100 feet from the edge of the Creek. Designed initially to be a summer retreat for our customer, they also planned for this to become their retirement home. All of the main living areas including the master bedroom were placed on the first floor for easy accessibility as they age, while the guest bedrooms were located upstairs on the second floor.
